Online dating is a great way to find love, a soulmate, for boomers and seniors who are single, divorced or widowed.
My introduction to online dating was a friend telling me I could find love if I joined an online dating site. He had been a member of several online dating sites for a number of months and had been on many dates.
I have to say I was very reluctant. Not because I did not know how to use a computer, in fact I used one for my work, it was the ‘idea’ of meeting someone online. We had many discussions about why it would be good for me.
I was divorced and hadn’t dated for over 10 years, by choice. My ex had been incredibly abusive and I did not want to get into a relationship like that again. How could I know, through online dating, when you really don’t see that person, only a picture (this was before video became mainstream on online dating sites).
So he basically walked me through the process. Signing up, completing my profile and doing some searches. I actually even asked his advice on men that contacted me. After about a month I felt more secure and comfortable enough to deal with contacts on my own.
So many boomers have found love and romance by reaching out through online dating so give it a try. I did and married the last man I met through online dating.
